Dragon Rapide Flight over Cambridge and Madingley

Description

The first Dragon Rapide flight was on the 17th April 1934 from the de Havilland factory at Hatfield in Hertfordshire and such was the safety of its design that it became the first aircraft to carry a reigning British Monarch.

At the start of World War II many Dragon Rapides were impressed by the British armed forces and, together with fresh RAF orders, served under the designation de Havilland Dominie. They were used for passengers duties and radio navigation training.

Today though only a handful are flying, but the Rapide remains one of the best loved pre-war aircraft.

This wonderful sightseeing flight in a Dragon Rapide will give you a unique aerial view of the historic city of Cambridge followed by Madingley. Madingley is the home of the American cemetery with 3812 graves and memorial with 5126 names on the role of honour. The cemetery includes World War Two graves from the Army Air Corps, American Navy, Marines and Coastguards.

Things you need to know

The minimum age is 16, weight limit is 20 stone and participants need to be in good health. This experience is available from April to October.

If the experience is cancelled due to weather conditions you will be offered an alternative date. PLEASE NOTE: This 25 minute flight is an approximate time and includes taxing and landing.
