Fire Engine Driving Experience

Description

Don`t jump out the way of the fire engine, jump in it and drive! Whether you are an aspiring fire-fighter or just want to experience firsthand how it feels to be behind the wheel of a 13 ton Dennis or Scania 82 Fire Appliance.

Spend an hour with an experienced instructor and Fire-fighter, learn how to manoeuvre, safely and quickly, around a specially laid out course including top gear main roads, roundabouts, T- junctions, slaloms, garages etc. To make things as realistic as possible the vehicle will be carrying a full equipment load and carrying 2 tonnes of water, plenty to go at with the hose! and maybe put out a fire!

Things you need to know

Restrictions - You must be fit, able bodied and 17 year of age or over. You must be fit enough to enable you to climb into a high cab. We can give you some help if need be. Maximum weight is 114kg (18stone), maximum height 1.93m (6ft 4"0, minimum height 1.57m (5ft2"). If you do not fit inside these measurements please contact our office as we may be able to accommodate you with prior notice. A full valid UK or European driving licence will need to be brought and shown on the day. If you are not 100% able bodied but feel you could drive this vehicle safely then please call us to check if this is possible.

On purchasing this experience you will be sent an attractive `open dated` gift voucher pack. There are no extra charges for VAT or postage. Accident and Cancellation Insurance is also included.

Other Information

Availability - Monday - Saturday dates throughout the year subject to availability.

Duration - A minimum of 1 hour in the vehicle with you behind the wheel for the whole course. There is a briefing beforehand and debrief after the driving session followed by the presentation of a certificate. You will be at the venue for a minimum of one and a half hours.

Numbers - This is an exclusive event with one-to-one tuition, but if you want your own spectators to be in the appliance with you, or you would like them to have a go that`s fine.

Spectator Information:

Guests are welcome and we encourage spectators to get as close to the action as safely possible. Spectators can ride in the vehicles with the drivers - subject to room in the vehicle. Spectators wishing to participate will be charged £10pp over 14yrs old. We allow 2 complimentary guests, if you wish to bring additional guests, (over 14) these must be booked in advance at £5 per person. Refreshments are available free of charge on arrival for yourself and your guests. There are drink and snack machines in the clubhouse for your convenience. You may also be able to pre-book other sessions for your guests including driving the 360° 16ton digger and Bedford 4x4 military lorry, all at a discounted rate to really make it a day out that everyone will enjoy.
